"If anyone wants to be first must be last of all"
XXV Sunday of Ordinary Time, September 20, 2009, the year b. The first reading from the Book of Wisdom, makes us hear the thoughts of a persecutor, or rather a community of persecutors, "lies in wait at the right, because there is an embarrassment." It is not free of hatred, but hatred concerned: the righteous man is hated for his righteousness. Justice bother and should be done away with. The persecutors are also atheists, since they are sure that God will do nothing to defend the right: an atheist is not (only) those who think that God does not exist, but also those who think that he is impotent or indifferent.
The Gospel offers a prophecy of Jesus to his disciples about his coming death and resurrection. Why was Jesus crucified? To shut him up? Yes, but not all. His criticisms bother, but perhaps less for his testimony. More than one critic, Jesus was a witness. He declared blessed those who hunger and thirst for justice, and he himself lived by this hunger and this thirst, and informed. Invited to seek the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and he showed in his person what is justice. Worldwide bears, but not the testimony of justice.

Lord while ads that will make our servant to the gift of your life, the disciples argue about who among them is the greatest. Like them we too, in many ways, we welcome your person. Make us humble and small, because, to welcome the Kingdom, we must deny ourselves possess.
